Information Security

The Barclay Medical Centre website doesn't just provide easier communication with the centre. Behind the scenes we use industry standard 256-bit SSL encryption technology to ensure that your confidential information stays between you and your doctor.

Logging into the site switches your web browser into a secure mode - this can be seen in two places: the change from "http://" to "https://" in the address bar at the top of the window, and the appearance of a "padlock" symbol in the bottom corner of the window (in Internet Explorer 6).

Information sent from your browser to the Barclay Medical Centre website will be unable to be decoded by anyone who intercepts it. This is in constrast to sending a regular email message, where the information is sent as plain text. When the encrypted message reaches the Barclay Medical Centre it will be processed only by authorised personnel in accordance with our privacy policy and medical confidentiality.

256-bit encryption is regarded as the highest available level of encryption. For your peace of mind, click here to see who else currently relies on 256-bit encryption
